New Year's Eve Bowl Games

Thursday December 31, 2009

The college football bowl season will be going fast and furious the next two days with 10 games. There will be five games on Thursday and five more on Friday.

Several teams playing today had hopes of playing on New Year's Day, or later, so it will be interesting to see how they perform is less-than-expected bowls. Other teams, such as Iowa State, are likely to be thrilled to be in a bowl game, and again you have to question if those schools are content with just playing this late in the season, or will they show up ready for battle?

It's easy to get in the trap of wagering on every game, but don't be bashful about passing or at the very least, making a token wager on the games you have no real opinion about.

We'll look at all the New Year's Eve games in 2009 New Year's Eve Bowls located in the Football Betting section of the site.

Calm Before the Storm

Wednesday December 30, 2009

There are just two bowl games on today's schedule, with five to be played on Thursday and the traditional New Year's Day slate of games to be played Friday. Wednesday's match-ups don't look too particularly enticing, but will no doubt still receive plenty of wagering action.

The first game of the day pits Idaho and Bowling Green in the Humanitarian Bowl. The game, between a pair of 7-5 teams, will be played in Idaho, which should give the Vandals an advantage. Both teams are capable of scoring plenty of points and will want to entertain viewers in a rare nationally televised game. Idaho is now favored by one and the total is 68.

Points figure to be much tougher to come by in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Nebraska struggled a bit offensively this year and Arizona can play tough defense. But the Wildcats' offense is nothing to get too terribly excited about either.

Nebraska is favored by three and the total is 40.5

There are plenty of other contests on today's schedule, with a large NCAA basketball slate, along with good-sized schedules in the NBA and NHL.

Dawgs, Aggies Battle in Independence Bowl

Monday December 28, 2009

The Georgia Bulldogs and the Texas A & M Aggies will battle it out in today's Independence Bowl in what may be one of the most entertaining bowl games of them all. Both teams have good offenses and suspect defenses, so points may be plentiful.

The Bulldogs are favored by a touchdown and the total on the game is hovering around 66.5.

The betting is pretty much split on the game, with Georgia receiving 52 percent of the wagers.

Music City Madness

Sunday December 27, 2009

The Kentucky Wildcats and Clemson Tigers will slug it out in Nashville tonight in the Music City Bowl. The Wildcats are looking for a repeat of 2006 when they upset the Tigers as 11-point underdogs.

The Wildcats should have the crowd on their side, but that could very well be the only advantage Kentucky has in this match-up, as Clemson is stronger at most positions.
