Play Ball!

Monday March 31, 2008
By now, most readers of the site have heard me say once or twice that's it's wisest to wait until a few baseball games have been played before jumping into the fire. A number of bettors will use May 1 as the starting point in betting baseball. I'm not one of them, however, as three games have been played so far this baseball season and I've had wagers on, well, three games.

For those of you who want to get right into the action, I'll post baseball picks in the forum until May 1, when I move them to the main pages. I do wager less on the games in April than I will when May rolls around, although it's still more per game than my typical basketball or football wagers. As I always say, when it comes to football and basketball, I follow the line; when it comes to hockey and baseball, I move the line.

Be forewarned, I bet on more underdogs than favorites, so we'll have more 2-5 days than we will 5-2 days, but it's all about the price on the games we do win.

Still, use some caution in the early going and don't be afraid to make smaller wagers. It's a long season and you want to make sure you have a healthy bankroll for the long haul.
