Betting Baseball's Large Favorites

Friday April 18, 2008
For most sports gamblers, the sight of a -220 favorite in baseball is a source of confusion. While they've probably heard not to back teams favored by those odds, it looks too tempting to pass up, as there is just no way the favored team can lose. The majority of the time, they're right, in that the favored team will win the game, but do they win at a high enough ratio to cover the risk of laying more than -200?

Should those teams be bet on the run line instead, where the bettor can lay significantly lower odds, but must give 1.5 runs to the underdog?

We'll look at those two questions and more in Betting Baseball's Large Favorites in the Baseball Betting section of the site.
