Even though football is getting all of the attention right now, sports bettors shouldn't be willing to forget about baseball this time of year. There are still some solid value plays out there to be found. Perhaps more now than earlier in the season, as the oddsmakers are devoting the majority of their time to football.
The Los Angeles Angels are about the only team that has a playoff spot wrapped up, even though they haven't clinched anything mathematically, and there are nearly a dozen other teams that still have decent chances of making the playoffs. Those are the typically the best types of games to concentrate on, as games between two also-rans can be a bit more unpredictable than than a game involving at least one team that you know will be giving the game its best effort.
One of the better games today will take place in Milwaukee, where Johan Santana and the New York Mets battle Ben Sheets and the Brewers. It's a big game for both teams, as the Mets lead the Phillies by just one game and the Brewers are 4.5 games behind the Cubs, but leading the Wildcard standings.
