You know how bad the Detroit quarterback situation is when Dante Culpepper, who was signed earlier this week, has been named the starting quarterback for the Lions today. Nothing against Culpepper, who is an improvement behind center for Detroit, but ideally, you'd like him to have a bit more practice time before his first start.
The Lions are likely to simplify the offense today and if Culpepper can keep the turnovers down to a minimum, the game has a decent chance of staying under the total.
Several big games are on the schedule today, including New York at Philadelphia, Green Bay at Minnesota, Tennessee at Chicago, and New Orleans at Atlanta.
Line movement has been minimal during the week, with just several games moving more than a point from the opening number, although late money this morning will likely change that before kickoff.
From a handicapping standpoint, this isn't particularly a great day in the NFL, as the majority of the lines are pretty tight.
