Most baseball fans have heard phrases along the lines of "pitching is 90-percent of the game," or a similar statement meant to stress the importance of the men on the mound. While it's true that starting pitching has a huge influence on the odds of a game, most baseball bettors would be better off paying a little more attention to the run-scoring potential of the two teams involved.
Betting on a team because it has the better starting pitcher, without giving any regard to the line-ups both pitchers will face, is a common mistake among baseball bettors.
