Review of Betting the Line

Tuesday July 14, 2009
For many years, sports gamblers practically had to rely on word of mouth and passed down tales when discussing the origins of sports betting. There was really no definitive history of the subject ever written. That changed in 2001, with the release of Betting the Line by Richard O. Davies and Richard G. Abram.

Betting the Line is a look at the history of sports betting from a pair of academics, as both were on the faculty at the University of Nevada-Reno when the book was released.

The academic nature of the authors shows, at times, which will likely make the book a bit too dry for some, but there is some good information contained within the pages.
