The Phillies and Seattle Mariners are already winners on the day regardless of what happens on the field, as both teams made themselves stronger with trades. The Phils nabbed Cliff Lee from the Indians, while Seattle picked-up shortstop Jack Wilson. The key in the Seattle deal could very well turn out to be Ian Snell, who has struggled with the Pirates for the last two seasons, but a fresh start could make a big difference.
On the diamond tonight, there's a good pitching match-up in Texas, with Verlander and Feldman, while there are also several ugly looking match-ups, including Mock and Parra in Milwaukee.
Mat Latos will look to build on a solid outing his last time on the mound for the Padres, while Chris Tillman is making his major league debut for the Orioles.
A number of under umpires are working the games tonight in Cincinnati, New York (Mets), Arizona and Boston. The umpires working the Arizona and Texas games have seen the home team win more than two-thirds of the time.
