Today will be a big day in the sports betting world, as three teams try to fight playoff elimination, while three others try to avoid going down 3-1 in their respective series. The oddsmakers realize that people are more likely to bet on the team that "needs" the game, so you generally pay a bit to back those teams.
That doesn't necessarily mean those teams won't cover, just that the bettor backing those teams usually lays an extra point or two, while it's typically worth 20 cents or so on the money line.
