The World Cup begins today and while it's not on the priority list for many Americans, the rest of the world feels a little bit different. Think Super Bowl, World Series and NBA Finals all rolled up into one. That's how big it is.

Soccer is slowly making progress in the United States and ESPN is banking that it will generate a following, as the network has paid a cool $100 million for rights to televise games in 2010 and 2014.

Sports bettors are likely to get a bit more involved, as well, due to the sheer number of televised games, and the fact that more people have some knowledge of the game and the teams involved.

We'll look at the different wagers being offered for the World Cup in Betting the 2010 World Cup which is located in the Betting on Other Sports section of the site.
