Light Schedule on Tap

Tuesday November 10, 2009

Tuesday's schedule isn't really that enticing from a sports fan perspective, although sports bettors may find it a bit more to their liking.

There is just one college football game, with Buffalo hosting Ohio, while many of the marquee NBA teams are idle. Buffalo is favored by one point.

An interesting NBA game will take place in Sacramento, where the upstart Thunder travels to play the Kings. Last year the two teams combined for 40 wins, but Oklahoma City is 3-3 so far this season and the Kings are 3-4.

Pac 10 Battle of the Birds

Saturday November 7, 2009

On a day with several intriguing match-ups, one of the most interesting will take place when the Oregon Ducks meet the Stanford Cardinal. Oregon, fresh of its huge win over USC, is favored by a touchdown.

If there was ever a team due for a letdown, it's the Oregon Ducks, a fact most bettors are aware of, as the line is a bit lower than it should be. Stanford is no slouch and have the ability to run the ball, something that could give the Ducks problems.

Other key games are Alabama vs. LSU and Ohio State vs. Penn State.

Donaghy Looking For New Publisher

Tuesday November 3, 2009

Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy is looking for a new publisher after Random House decided not to go ahead with the release of his book, Blowing The Whistle. The book, which was scheduled to be released this month, was pulled after the NBA threatened to sue.

While it appears the book may never be published, that doesn't mean you can't see a little bit of what has the NBA so up in arms.

Can Niners Strike Gold?

Sunday November 1, 2009

Several key NFL games highlight today's schedule, with the Ginats at the Eagles, Denver at Baltimore and Minnesota at Green Bay the three mostly likely to get attention.

The Broncos, along with the Colts and Saints, who play Monday, look to remain the only unbeaten teams in the league.

The Colts and Houston are the two favorite choices of the public to cover the point spread today, as both teams have 75 percent of the wagers in their respective games. Houston will be in Buffalo, while the Colts host a scrappy 49er team.

Tonight, the Yankees will try to take a commanding 3-to-1 lead over the Phillies in the World Series. CC Sabathis is a large favorite to come away with the win. The line on the game is NY -170. The Yankees are bigger favorites to win the World Series, as the adjusted line is Yankees -450 at several different books.

Will Irish Eyes Be Smiling?

Saturday October 31, 2009

With several big games taking place tonight, such as Game 3 of the World Series and the showdown between USC and Oregon, Notre Dame finds itself in a rare position of not getting much attention. Tonight's game between the Irish and Washington State has barely registered a blip on anybody's radar.

Of course that may have something to do with the fact that Washington State is bad. Extremely bad, which is why they are nearly four touchdown underdogs to Notre Dame.

The Yankees and the Phillies return to action tonight, as Andy Pettite faces Cole Hamels. Hamels, the World Series MVP last year, clearly hasn't been the same pitcher he was a year ago and struggled nearly all season.

The battle between Oregon and USc should be a great one to watch. The Trojans are favored by three on the road and will have to work hard to contain Jeremiah Masoli. Eugene is a tough place to play, but it's been several years to find USC favored by as little as a field goal. The Ducks defeated USC in Eugene the last time the teams met there.

Can Burnett Handle the Pressure?

Thursday October 29, 2009

When the New York Yankees threw $82.5 million at A.J. Burnett this summer it was with the expectation that the right-hander would help the team return to the World Series. So far, so good. But you don't pay a player $16.5 million per season and not expect them to perform when it matters most, therefore the Yankees will turn to Burnett to even the series against the Phillies.

The oddsmakers are behind the Yankees as New York is roughly -210 on the money line, while the bets are coming in on both teams.

Kobe, LeBron Expected to Meet in Finals

Tuesday October 27, 2009

The NBA regular season kicks off tonight, with the Celtics and the Cavs the best game on the slate. Both teams are expected to battle it out for the Eastern Conference title, with Cleveland favored to come out on top.

If the sportsbooks are right, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers will be the opposition.

We'll take a look at odds to win the NBA title, the number of regular season wins expected for each team and odds to win the regular season MVP award in 2009-10 NBA Betting Outlook located in the Basketball Betting section of the site.

Yankees, Phillies Meet in Fall Classic

Monday October 26, 2009

Major League Baseball got what it wanted, as the New York Yankees are returning to the Fall Classic for the first time since 2003, as they will take on the defending champion Philadelphia Phillies. The appearance by the Yankees guarantees a huge audience for the duration of the World Series.

The public's fondness for the Yankees has been showing up in betting circles, as well. The Yankees are 2-to-1 favorites to defeat the Phillies and may be even higher before the first pitch is thrown.

Big Sunday Night

Sunday October 25, 2009

Sports fans have two solid choices tonight, as the Arizona Cardinals travel to New York to face the Giants, while the Yankees will try to wrap up their series with the Angels.

Both New York teams are heavy favorites, with the Yankees -180 to defeat Los Angeles and the NYG are 7.5-point favorites over Arizona. Predictably, the public is behind both NY teams, as well.
