Mark Franco's Super Bowl Props
Every year we turn the floor over to professional sports bettor Mark Franco when the Super Bowl rolls around for his look at the big game, including his favorite proposition wagers. He's had a great deal of success over the years and has had a knack for corretly picking his proposition wagers. For the game, Franco likes the Giants+3 to cover the point spread.
"No question the Giants are the better overall team and the argument can be made that Eli Manning is just as good a quarterback as Tom Brady. I see the Giants' running game being a big part of their offensive game plan against this weak Patriots' defense and that means success for RB Ahmad Bradshaw. The biggest mismatch of the game will be Manning's receivers, Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham against the Patriots' patchwork secondary. The Giants relentless pass rush will hold Brady and the Patriots down just enough to win Super Bowl XLVI."
Super Bowl XLVI Prop Bets
Odds for proposition bets are given using the money line. If you are unfamiliar with the concept, read Understanding Money Lines and everything will make sense to you in no time.On to Franco's selections:
Total Rushing Yards By: Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG) OVER 60.5 (-110)
"I see the Giants' running game being a big part of their offensive game plan against this weak Patriots defense and that means success for Bradshaw. In three playoff games Bradshaw has rushed for an average of just over 66 yards vs. Atlanta, Green Bay and San Francisco, who all have a better run defense than New England. In the Patriots' two postseason wins they are giving up 130 yards per game on the ground."
Will either team score 3 straight times? No: (+155)
"In a game that will be close throughout, I do not see either team getting three scores in a row before the other team scores. Remember extra points or 2-point conversions do not count."
Shortest Touchdown of the game: OVER 1.5 yards (+115)
"This one is a prop I have had good success with over the years and the only way you lose this one is with a one-yard TD run or pass. If we see a pass interference call in the end-zone, which is unlikely, our ticket is toast."
Largest lead of the game by either team: UNDER 13.5 (+125)
"My game plan has this being a tight game throughout and I can't see this game becoming a rout like past Super Bowls. In a game that should come down to the 4th quarter I don't see either team leading by more than 13 points at any point in the game."
Will there be overtime? YES (+800)
"This is one of the biggest sucker bets as we have never had overtime in a Super Bowl, but this could be the year. I am willing to make a small wager that we have our first-ever overtime in the Big Game."
First score of the game will be: Any other score but a TD (+180)
"This is betting that we will see a field or a safety for the first score of the game. I look for both teams to be a little tight in the early going so I'm betting on someone having a 3-0 lead to start the game."
Will the game be decided by exactly 3 points? YES (+375)
"I am looking at value here. This is a nice plus price in what will be a close game that very well could come down to who has the football last. This is a gut play in what could turn out to be one of the best Super Bowls ever."
Will the game be tied after 0-0? YES (-110)
"In what will be a close game throughout, I can see this game being tied at some point, and maybe more than once. Getting some value here at plus or even money makes this one attractive."
Total points by: Lawrence Tynes (NYG Kicker) OVER 7.5 (+120)
"My handicap has the Giants scoring at least two touchdowns and two field goals which will give Tynes at least eight points. The field goals will be the key to points."
Total points by: Stephen Gostkowski (NE Kicker) OVER 7.5 (-125)
"The same goes for Gostkowski as the Pats get at least two touchdowns and two field goals as well which equal eight points."
