National League Totals Breakdown
If you're betting overs in the National League this year, things haven't gone too well for you up until this point. Through the All-Star break, 689 games had gone over the total in the AL, while 762 games went under the total. Here, we'll look at each team tendencies against the over/under line.
Arizona Diamondbacks 46 overs, 47 unders
The Arizona Diamondbacks are about as steady as they come, which is the main reason they've hovering near the 50-50 mark for overs and unders. Arizona is scoring 4.41 runs per game against right-handed starters (RHP) and 4.42 against left-handed starters (LHP). The Diamondbacks score, and allow, fewer runs runs on the road than at home.
Atlanta Braves 34 overs, 60 unders
The Atlanta Braves have been one of the biggest under teams in baseball, especially on the road, as just 12 of 47 games have gone over the total. Atlanta is averaging 3.9 runs per game on the road, compared to 4.9 at home. The Braves have hit right-handed pitchers better, scoring 4.72 runs per game, compared to just 3.91 against southpaws.
Cincinnati Reds 45 overs, 49 unders
The Cincinnati Reds score nearly the same amount of runs per game, but have seen the overs go 26-23 when the team is on the road, but just 19-26 when they're at home. The Reds have fared better against left-handers this season, scoring 4.95 runs per game, compared to 4.09 against RHP.
Colorado Rockies 44 overs, 54 unders
Everybody knows about high-scoring games in Colorado, but the Rockies have managed to go under the total in 27 of the 49 games in Denver so far. Naturally, the Rockies score nearly two runs more per game at home than on the road and have done especially well against LHP. At home, Colorado averages 7.18 runs per game against southpaws, compared to just 3.09 on the road. Overall, Colorado is scoring 5.57 runs against LHP and 4.12 runs against RHP.
Chicago Cubs 46 overs, 48 unders
The Cubs have been nearly a 50-50 proposition at home or on the road, despite scoring well more than two more runs per game at Wrigley Field. The Cubs average 6.00 runs per game against LHP (7.73 at home) and 4.93 runs per game (5.87 at home) against RHP for the season.
Florida Marlins 55 overs, 35 unders
The Florida Marlins have done most of their scoring on the road, so its not surprising the team is 30-14 to the overs when they're away. The Marlins have scored more than a run higher on the road than at home. Still, Forida has a slight tendency to go over at home, as well. The Marlins are averaging 4.21 runs per game against LHP and 5.04 runs per game against RHP.
Houston Astros 38 overs, 58 unders
The Astros have been a solid under team all season long, with two-thirds of their road games going under the total. Houston scores roughly a half-run more at home than on the road. The Astros average 4.64 runs per game against LHP and 4.13 runs per game against RHP.
Los Angeles Dodgers 45 overs, 52 unders
The Dodgers have a slight tendency to go under the total at home or away, although the team scores more on the road. The Dodgers have fared much better against southpaws this season, averaging 5.29 runs per game, while scoring just 3.86 runs per game against RHP.
Milwaukee Brewers 44 overs, 53 unders

The Brewers have been a solid under team on the road, with 29 of their 50 games staying under the number, while being much closer to 50-50 at home. Milwaukee has been solid against LHP all season, averaging 5.26 runs, while scoring 4.51 against RHP.
New York Mets 48 overs, 43 unders
The Mets score more runs on the road, so it's only natural they are 27-21 to the over away from home, but just 21-22 on their home field. The Mets score a bit less against RHP (4.81) than they do against LHP (5.0) but are one of the more consistent teams.
Philadelphia Phillies 46 overs, 53 unders
The Phillies may have one of the best line-ups in all of baseball, but the oddsmakers have caught on, typically posting high totals on their games. As a result, the Phillies have been an under team. The Phillies are at their best against LHP, scoring 5.54 runs per game, compared to 4.63 against RHP and score slightly more on the road.
Pittsburgh Pirates 57 overs, 36 unders
The Pittsburgh Pirates have seen 33 of 45 road games go over the total. While Pittsburgh scores more on the road, the team's pitching staff has been brutal away from home, which is the primary reason for the games going over the total. Pittsburgh averages 4.89 runs against LHP and 4.72 against RHP.
San Diego Padres 43 overs, 55 unders
The Padres have struggled all season to score runs, making it no surprise they've been an under team. San Diego's 3.88 runs against LHP and 3.67 runs against RHP make the Padres the only team in baseball to average less than 4.0 runs per game against both LPH and RHP. The Padres have seen 32 of 52 home games go under the total.
San Francisco Giants 48 overs, 46 unders
The Giants haven't been lighting up the scoreboard, as they're one of the worst offensive teams in baseball, but have had some shaky pitching at times, keeping them around the 50-50 plateau in terms of totals. The Giants are 27-20 to the over at home and average 3.91 runs per game against LHP and 4.08 runs against RHP.
St. Louis Cardinals 45 overs, 51 unders
The Cardinals score nearly a run more on the road than they do at home, but have seen more of their games go under the total when they're away. St. Louis is averaging 4.97 runs against RHP and 4.33 runs against LHP.
Washington Nationals 45 overs, 52 unders
The Washington Nationals are another team that has scored more runs on the road and sport a 25-24 over record away, but are just 20-28 when at home. The Nats average 4.34 runs per game against LHP, but just 3.39 against RHP, including a dismal 3.0 runs per game against right-handers at home.
