Wrestlemania XXVII Odds Released
One day before the biggest day in college basketball of the year, the biggest day in professional wrestling will take place with Wrestlemania XXVII. Even though most people realize that the outcome is predetermined, that hasn't stopped 5 Dimes and Bodog from offering odds on the matches, albeit with fairly low limits.
There is a mixture of matches with extremely high odds, where one wrestler is a prohibitive favorite, but a surprising number of matches with fairly low odds, indicating the sportsbooks aren't sure who will come out ahead.
Looking at the matches and odds:
Randy Orton -285
CM Punk +205
Orton is a bigger favorite than would be expected and is probably the correct side in this match which should be interesting even though it doesn't have any title ramifications.
Jerry "the King" Lawler -1500
Michael Cole +750
WWE has done a good job with the build-up of this match, although it's hard to imagine Lawler losing in any shape or form. Stone Cold Steve Austin is the special guest referee and the match will likely end with he and The King sharing a beer in the ring.
Rey Mysterio +135
Cody Rhodes -165
Logic would tell you that Rhodes should be the winner, but Vince McMahon does things his way and don't be surprised to see Mysterio come away with the win.
Trish Stratus, Snooki, John Morrison -1400
Michelle McCool, Layla, Dolph Ziggler +700
The odds in this one tell you all you need to know about this match. Take the favorite.
Sheamus -275
Daniel Bryan+205
Bryan is a talent in the ring, but professional wrestling is a business and the WWE has too much invested in Sheamus to see him lose this one.
The Miz +160
John Cena -230
Two wrestlers better with the mike than in the ring will battle it out for the WWE Championship and again, the underdog is worth a small look.
The Undertaker -1400
Triple H +700
This match should be entertaining, but can't see Undertaker's streak of 18 straight wins going by the wayside. A recent turn of events has the Taker as the heel in the match, so expect Helmsley to put on a good show, but come up short.
Edge +350
Alberto Del Rio -500
Hard to believe the odds in this one, as Edge is the defending World Heavyweight Championship belt holder, but something is definitely strange here. I wouldn't be too shocked to see something off-beat happen at the end, which will set up the next storyline for one of the two wrestlers.
