NCAA Mid-Season Football Report

It's been an unusual college football season for football bettors so far, as several trends are winning at an unprecedented rate so far, teams coming off a bye week and home underdogs.

Teams coming off a bye week, or having at least nine days in between games, are an amazing 46-14-3 on the season against the point spread through games of Oct. 22. Whether that trend will continue remains to be seen, but is something that can't be overlooked and should be given consideration before placing a wager.

Home underdogs are winning at a 57.7% clip for the season and have been on a tear the last four weeks, going 45-22 against the spread, including weeks of 13-4 and 14-3. The home underdogs came back down to earth a little bit last week, going 11-9 against the point spread, which was still good enough to show a small profit.

Combining the two trends and wagering on home underdogs coming off a bye week, has produced eight plays on the season and all eight of them have covered the point spread. There are three games that fit this pattern for Oct. 27. The first is taking Washington State + 6 against UCLA and the second is taking UTEP plus the points against Houston. Rutgers, getting + 6 against West Virginia, is the final play.
