Super Bowl Betting - Betting the 2008 Super Bowl Propositions

With the Super Bowl just hours away, gamblers are making last-minute decisions on what team to wager on, if the total will go over or under, and which, if any, of the hundreds of different proposition bets might pay off.

When it comes to proposition bets nothing is off-limits as far as offshore sportsbooks are concerned. Bettors can wager on the coin toss, the length of the National Anthem, if Don Shula will shake the hand of the winning coach, and even the last song Tom Petty will perform during the halftime show.

Nearly every "expert" has an opinion on the proposition wagers and I've looked at plenty of their predictions over the past few days to the tune of 60 recommendations for proposition wagers. Most of these have come from sports services, which charge for their selections, so I'll have to admit I was a little surprised to see one service making a prediction on the coin toss and another on the length of the National Anthem.

But the most interesting thing is out of those 60 recommendations, only three of them had two people choosing the same wager. In other words, out of the 60 recommendations, there were 57 different ones.

The three wagers that received more than one vote were:
Plaxico Burress Over 4.5 receptions -125
Most Penalty Yards: New York Giants -120
First Score Will be Field Goal/Safety +160

There is no guarantee that any of these three wagers will be winners, but at least you know there will be plenty of other people out there rooting the same way as you are. And it didn't cost you a cent.
