2008 Poinsettia Bowl Preview

An attractive match-up awaits sports bettors in the Poinsettia Bowl, as Boise State leaves its Smurf Turf for a trip to San Diego to play Texas Christian University.

TCU openned as a 2-point favorite, but money has been coming in on the Horned Frogs and TCU is now favored by 3.5. The total on the game has risen from 45 to 46.

When I first looked at the game, I gave the early leans to TCU and the over, but have had a bit of a change of heart and think the under may be the way to go, as the teams allow just 23 points a game combined. One defense may have a bit of an off day, but it's doubtful that both will.

Looking at the side, we have an undefeated team receiving points from a team with two losses. In some ways it's similar to Arizona giving points to BYU and we all saw what happened there.

Many of the sports services are releasing big plays on TCU and that's enough to make me go light on the game, as it's never a good idea to be on the same side as all the services.

Both teams are capable of putting up some points, but I believe the defenses will control the game.

3.5* under 46
