The release of Phil Steele's annual college football preview marks the unofficial start of the upcoming football season for a number of sports bettors. Steele continues to put out the best college football preview around and just when you think he has done it all, he manages to outdo himself. The 2009 edition is another winner from Steele, the owner of Northcoast Sports.

All of the popular features of the magazine are back for another go around, including Steele's most improved teams, positional rankings, projected bowl matchups, as well as his preseason Top 40.

Each team is given two full pages of information which includes projected starting line-ups, point spread logs from the past five seasons, numerous statistics, and plenty more. There is very little a college football bettor would want to know heading into a new season that isn't included in Steele's preview.

Once again, the magazine checks in at 328 pages, which is probably more than it sounds, as advertising is kept to a minimum, and the entire magazine is in color.

As usual, there are plenty of different covers depending on your geographical location, so buyers shouldn't worry if the copy at the store looks different than the one pictured here or on Steele's website.

The price has remained at $8.95, which makes it one of the best investments any sports bettor will make for the upcoming college football season. Pick up a copy and you'll see why.
