Odds to Win NFL Divisons - AFC
Last week we looked at the odds on how many games each individual team would win in click 2011 NFC Win Totals and 2011 AFC Win Totals. This article is along the same lines, but this time we'll look at the odds on winning each division. As we did last week, we'll break down the AFC and NFC seperately. To read the NFC article click here.
All numbers are posted with the Money line so make sure you have an understanding of how that works.AFC Divisional Odds
Due to the injury to Peyton Manning odds to win the AFC South have been taken down for the time being until his injury status is a little more settled. So bettors have just three conferences to woory about for now. Odds on the Colts winning the AFC are 12-1, the same as they are for Houston, but I'd expect Indianapolis to be slight favorites to win the divison based on their history.AFC East
New England -165New York Jets +205
Miami or Buffalo +545
New England is a healthy favorite to win the AFC East and deservedly so. The Patriots are showing no signs of slowing down and consistently are able to attract solid players to the program. The Jets are the only team with a realistic chance of surpassing New England in the standings.
If you wager on Miami or Buffalo you do get both teams with a single bet, but realistically would be throwing your money away.
AFC North
Pittsburgh -105Baltimore +115
Cleveland or Cincinnati +805
We have another two-horse race in the NFC North, as once again the divison title is expected to come down to two teams. Pittsburgh is the slighest of favorites in what should be a dogfight. I'd give a slight lean to the Ravens, as I believe this is their year.
Cleveland and Cincinnati can for all liklihood be discounted.
Here is where it could pay to shop for lines, as you may be able to find Pittsburgh at Even money or as a slight underdog and could wager on both Pittsburgh and Baltimore at plus money and ensure a slight profit as long as one of the two wins the divison. At the above odds, you could wager $105 on Pittsburgh and $95 on Baltimore and you would be returned $205 if Pittsburgh wins or $204.25 if Baltimore wins, which isn't really worth the trouble.
AFC West
San Diego -215Kansas City +365
Oakland or Denver +345
The odds say this is all San Diego and it's hard to disagree. The odds also say that the race for second place is fairly wide open and it's hard to disagree with that as well. Kansas City and Oakland are moving in the right direction but aren't ready to compete with the Chargers just yet.
Remember to shop as many different sportsbooks as you can to look for the best lines. The above lines are from The Greek.
