Odds to Win NFL Divisons - NFC
Last week we looked at the odds on how many games each individual team would win in click 2011 NFC Win Totals and 2011 AFC Win Totals. This article is along the same lines, but this time we'll look at the odds on winning each division. As we did last week, we'll break down the AFC and NFC seperately. To read the AFC article click here.
All numbers are posted with the Money line so make sure you have an understanding of how that works.NFC East
Philadelphia +105Dallas +205
NYG or Washington +245
The Eagles are somewhat attractive at plus money, especially after the injury to the Giants' Terell Thomas, which will hurt more than some realize. Dallas would appear to have too many question marks to make a run for the divison title.
You do get both the Giants and Washington with one wager, but neither appears to be quite ready to contend with the Eagles.
NFC North
Green Bay -205Chicago +405
Minnesota or Detroit +325
The odds suggest a Green Bay runaway with a three-way battle for second place and it's hard to go against that. Chicago seems to be on the decline, while Detroit is heading in the right direction for a change. The Vikings are a question mark, although they are slowly getting older.
NFC South
Atlanta +115New Orleans +125
Tampa Bay or Carolina +405
I'd give the nod to New Orleans in this spot at +125. I have them finishing a game in front of Atlanta, so will be taking the better odds. Tampa made improvements last year, but don't appear to be in the same league as the top two teams and it figures to be a long season for the Panthers.
A number of bettors will likely wager on both Atlanta and New Orleans and take a small profit as long as one of those two wins the divison. Wagering $100 on each would yield a $15 profit if Atlanta wins and $25 if the Saints take the crown.
NFC West
St. Louis +145San Francisco +205
Seattle or Arizona +185
A quick look at the odds lets you know this figures to be an unpredictable division, where any of the four teams are capable of winning the title. There are numerous possibilities of taking two teams here and ensuring a profit if a particular team doesn't win, such as taking the Rams and the Seahawks/Cardinals and hoping the 49ers don't get the job done. A small stab on the Seattle/Arizona combination might not be the worst wager you could make, given the unpredictable nature of the divison.
