Sports Betting Office Pools - Survivor Pools

Survivor pools have become quite popular in the NFL, although they can easily be modified to work in other occasions, such as the college bowl game season.

The concept of survivor pools is simple, survive the longest and win the pool. The way to survive is to correctly pick the winner of a game.

NFL Survivor Pools

For NFL survivor pools, participants are asked to pick one team each week. If the selected team wins, players move on to the next week, where they are asked to select a team once again. If the selected team happens to lose, the pool player is eliminated. The last participant remaining is deemed the winner and collects the prize.

Some survivor pools will have certain stipulations, such as players cannot choose any one team more than twice. Stipulations such as this, are up to the person running the pool and should be made known in advance.

Other Uses of Survivor Pools

The survivor pool format will work in sports other than the NFL, although not quite as well, since having a whole week to make a selection gives all participants in the pool plenty of time to get their selections. One place the format works fairly well is in the college football bowl games, even though it's likely multiple selections will have to be made in advance depending on the availability of the person running the pool.

Survivor pools, also known as "Last Man Standing" pools, remain a popular form of office pool, as it mixes a little bit of skill, along with some luck, to determine the winner. There's nothing mystical about survivor pools, just make sure you hang around the longest and cash in.
