A Look at Heroes Sportsbook

Sports bettors need all of the advantages they can get, and Heroes Sportsbook is trying to do exactly that for bettors by offering reduced vig on sports bets. Unlike most sportsbooks, which have bettors lay 11-10 on routine point spread wagers, Heroes is working on a 5-cent line for college football, college basketball, the NHL, and the NBA, with just a 3-cent line for the NFL.

What that means is that instead of risking $110 to win $100, bettors will risk $105 to win $100 or in the case of the NFL, risk $103 to win $100. Many times the odds aren't exactly -105 or -103, but are slanted towards one team or the other. For games on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, Houston is -113, while Rice is +103. Another example would be North Carolina -107, while Duke at -103.

The 10-cent is certainly appealing for hockey bettors, who normally must play into a 20-cent line.

Heroes is located on the island of Curacao and accepts only bets online. There is no telephone wagering.

The are no restrictions on U.S. players, which gives Heroes a leg up on the competition, as Pinnacle, widely known for its reduced odds, prohibits bettors from the United States.

Bonus Program

Heroes offers a 10-percent bonus, of up to $500 for new accounts, as well as a 10-percent bonus, of up to $500, for reloads. Sports bettors are also entitled to one free withdraw per month.

"We are offering the most competitive lines and the lowest juice on the Internet, this alone would be a reason for people to use Heroes as one of their sportsbooks," said company spokesman Sean Dillon. " In addition to that our no nonsense bonus system is among the best, you meet rollover and you are able to withdrawal, with some other places you are required to jump through hoops to make your withdrawal. "These few things make us one of the new up and coming leaders of the Internet sportsbook industry."

Financial Security

Those of you who read the site on a regular basis know that I believe financial security is the single most important factor when it comes to choosing a sportsbook. All the bonus programs or different betting options don't mean a thing if bettors aren't going to paid when they win.

The ownership group of Heroes consists of at least one individual who was part of the group that owned OasisCasino, which was a fairly well respected sportsbook.

Sportsbook Review gave Heroes an initial rating of "C" although SBR is well-known for giving newer sportsbooks lower-than-deserved initial ratings.

Heroes is certainly worth a look for those seeking an additional place to lay their wagers, as the reduced odds can make a big difference in the long run.
