It's been several years since we last looked at the Stack Attack NBA Basketball program and the folks at Stat Attack haven't been resting on their laurels. There are a number of new features to the program, some of which we'll look over later on.

The biggest change since our last review is the inclusion of the Gold version of the program, which allows users to download the current season's results so that they will be included in any of your searches. Stat Attack will also sell the regular vewrsion of the NBA Basketball program.

Stat Attack Programs

Anybody who has followed the site for any length of time knows that I am a firm believer in the Stat Attack programs as being a valuable tool to help anyone their handicapping process. Stat Attack sells programs for Major League Baseball, NCAA Football, NFL Football, NCAA Basketball and also have programs for the NCAA tournament and preseason football.

Unlike many sports handicapping programs, Stat Attack does not tell you to bet on Team A or Team B. Instead, it allows the user to sort through various trends and find those they find meaningful, whether it's individual team trends, conference-wide trends or even trends involving all NCAA basketball teams.

Many of the systems I write about were discovered using Stat Attack programs and it's invalauble when writing the season previews, where we look at results from the previous year and look for trends worth keeping an eye on.

What's New, What's Not for 2011?

All of the searches that you could perform with older versions of the program are still available, such as seeing how a particular team inside its division or inside a particular conference, how it fares as a home favorite and many, many more.

But there are also some new filters you can use while conducting searches, such as days off between games, day of week games are played and elevation and time changes. You can also specify to search only regular season or post season games, and can also differentiate between the first round of the playoffs or later rounds.

Best of all, the database goes back to the start of the 1990-91 NBA season, so you have more than 20 years worth of results you can sort through.

The best features of the previous programs are still there, such as the ability to look at how a team, or teams, have done as favorites of 6 to 9.5 points, in certain over/under ranges, such as 190 to 194.5 and lots more. If you had a favorite feature in an older version of Stat Attack, you'll find it in the new one.

The Gold Version

As with the other Stat Attack programs beginning with the 2011 Baseball program, customers have had the option of purchasing the regular version of the program, which includes all spreads and totals dating back to the 1990-91 season. The regular version of the program sells for $69.95.

This year users also have the option of purchasing the Gold version of the program, which will allow them to download the current year's statistics on a weekly to keep up-to-date on all of the current trends and happenings for each team, division and conference.

The Gold version contains everything the regular version does, plus gives the ability to import the current stats. The Gold version sells for $159.95.

Using Stat Attack Programs

The one question I'm asked most often is how to use the programs. As mentioned earlier, Stat Attack does not tell you to bet on a particular team. Instead, it allows the user to search for variables they place importance on, such as how a team or teams fare in a particular situation.

There is really no correct way to use Stat Attack programs and it's unlikely that any two users will use the program exactly the same. I adressed some of the different methods the program will prove valuable in Using Stat Attack Programs.

As I've mentioned before, the creator of the Stat Attack programs, Whitey, and I probably couldn't use the programs any more differently. While he is more interested in team trends and angles, I pay more attention to certain situations and how all teams have performed in them. The fact that we both love the programs lets you know exactly how versatile they really are.
