
With the number of bizarre happenings in the late innings of this baseball season, more bettors are looking to totals as an alternative to betting sides. Several teams have now hit the 100-game plateau and things will be heating up down the stretch. There are 17 teams within seven games of the first-place team in their respective divisions, so anything is possible. Within the next four weeks, a number of the pretenders should fall by the wayside. When that happens it will be interesting to note which teams throw in the towel. Those teams could offer decent opportunities to go against.
Monday's schedule is a pretty full one, with Milwaukee and St. Louis being televised on ESPN. Several games have had decent line swings, with the Reds now favored -142 after opening at -129 and the Red Sox have climbed to -146 after opening as -126 favorites.
