College football fans have a pair of games to wager on this evening, as Tulane hosts SMU and USC travels to Oregon State. The point spreads are high on both games, as Tulane is favored by 18 points, with a total of 49, and USC is favored by 24.5 points, with an over/under number of 52.5
Surprisingly, the USC number has come down a bit after reaching 25.5 earlier in the week. One reason is that a number of sports services are on the Beavers, who were able to upset the Trojans the last time the two teams met in Corvallis. That may be enough to keep the Trojans focused for this game, but the Beavers do have a bit of quickness and probably match-up better with USC than Ohio State did.
SMU has put plenty of points on the board, but have had trouble stopping anybody, having allowed at least 40 points in all three of its lined games this season. Even Texas State University scored 36 points against the Mustangs.
In other gambling news, it looks as though Lazerwager sportsbook has shut done. Its web site is down, and it looks as though many people will be left holding the bag regarding its departure....As expected, the odds on Barack Obama have flattened a bit and the Democrat is now favored by -175 at Intertops and -150 at Bodog. Several sportsbooks are now posting proposition bets on the election and we'll look at those in the next few days.
