Most Profitable Pitchers

Baseball may be a team game, but it's still all about pitching, at least when it relates to a betting standpoint. The big name pitchers are always going to have the odds against them, so to speak, as you will be asked to lay a higher price than you would on a no-name pitcher with similar stats.

Over the long haul, the big-name pitchers are going to win their share of games, but many times will be priced out of betting.

A quick look at the 2011 pitchers who have shown the biggest flat-bet profit will yield a collection of little-known names, while there are several big names on the opposite side of the spectrum--the pitchers who have shown the biggest flat-bet loss.

Most Profitable Pitchers

Jason Marquis +9.4 units
Dillon Gee +8.8 units
Kevin Correia +8.1 units
Aaron Harrang +7.0 units
Kyle Drabek +6.3 units
Kyle McClellan +6.0 units

Marquis and Harrang may be the most-well known of the bunch, simply since the have been around for a while, but that collection of starting pitchers won't get anybody other than bettors excited.

Least Prifitable Pitchers

Ubaldo Jimenez -11.4 units
John Danks -9.8 units
Chris Carpenter -9.3 units
Clayton Richard -7.4 units
Paul Maholm -7.1 units

Carpenter and Jimenez are though of as quality pitchers, yet they're two of the three biggest money burners so far this season.

Don't be afraid to go against the bigger names, while backing those you haven't heard of. You'll definitely have the odds in your favor.
