NBA Futures Selections for the NBA 2007-08 Season
There are generally two types of futures bets a sports gambler can make in the NBA. The first way is for a bettor to wager that a particular team wins its division, conference, or the NBA title. The second method is to bet a team wins more or less than a particular number of games, making it similar to a normal over/under bet.
When wagering on a team to win the conference or the NBA championship, the odds generally aren't very favorable to bettors, so my preferred bet is to wager on the total number of wins a team will have.
The key factors to look at when placing a bet on the total number of wins are how the team did last year, roster moves, and injuries. A team that saw several of its key players miss a significant amount of time due to injuries last year, may be primed to make a solid upward move, while trades and free agent signings can greatly improve a team, or make a team worse.
