2009 New Mexico Bowl
The 2009-10 college football bowl season kicks-off with the New Mexico Bowl, where Wyoming takes on Fresno State. The Fresno St. Bulldogs are favored by 10.5 points and the total is 55.Wyoming isn't going to put much into anybody, as the Cowboys limped into bowl contention with a 6-6 record. The Cowboys struggled against other bowl teams, losing to Texas, BYU, Air Force, Utah and Colorado, but going 3-2 against the point spread.
Fresno State wasn't much better, however, although the Bulldogs played several bowl teams--namely Cincinnati--tough, but have to point to a 31-21 victory over Idaho as one of its better victories.
As we've mentioned before, betting the underdogs of more than 10 points in bowl games has been a profitable venture, and that looks like the way to go in this one, as well. Adding in the fact that Fresno St. coach Pat Hill is 0-4 against the point spread as a favorite (but 5-0 as a dog) is an additional factor in the Cowboys' favor.
We'll start off the bowl season with a play on the large underdog.
