2011 Heisman Trophy Odds
Quarterbacks are once again favored to win the 2011 Heisman Trophy, with Stanford's Andrew Luck. Michigan's Denard Robinson and Oklahoma's Landry Jones right at the top. South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore and Oregon's LaMichael James are the two running backs given the best chance to come away with the Heisman.Winning the Heisman is somewhat dependent on the team performing well, which could make it hard for Robinson and Lattimore, as Luck, James and Landry all play on teams that could very well be in the top five of the initial polls.
A look at the odds to win the Heisman from the Greek:
Aaron Murray +3000
Andrew Luck +300
Brandon Weeden +2000
Case Keenum +2000
Chris Polk +1800
Danny O'Brien +6000
Darron Thomas +3000
Denard Robinson +500
Greg Reid +7500
Justin Blackmon +1000
Kirk Cousins +4000
Knile Davis +1800
LaMichael James +600
Landry Jones +600
Marcus Lattimore +500
Matt Barkley +3000
Michael Floyd +2500
Nick Foles +3000
Robert Griffin III +1800
Ryan Broyles +1200
Trent Richardson +1200
My initial reaction was the James offered some decent value, although Darron Thomas could take a few votes away from him. Still, I'd like his chances more than Lattimore in part due to the Ducks' offense.
Trent Richardson offers some solid value at +1200. With Mark Ingram moving on to the NFL, Richardson should be the featured back in the Alabama offense. The Tide may stop using him to return kickoffs, which would hurt, but a 1,500-yard season isn't out of the question and he has good hands coming out of the backfield.
For now, Richardson and James would be the two I'd lean towards, although that could change before the end of August rolls around due to practice injuries, players ruled ineligible, etc.
